There is no better way to beat Bangkok’s traffic than the handy BTS Sky Train (unless of course you count motorcycle taxis). Here’s our list of 6 of the most exciting.
- Saladang – This stop is your gateway to the Silom area. It is the closest station to Pat Pong night market and entertainment area. Stop by O’Reilly’s Irish Pub on Friday night for Bangkok’s best Beatles impersonation band.
- Siam – You can catch the Silom line here. Siam Centre shopping mall and the ultra-posh Siam Paragon where you can buy everything from laptops to Lamborghinis are located here.
- Chit Lom – A convenient shop-stop, with sky walk connections to Central Department store, Amarin Plaza, Gaysorn Plaza Central, Central World Plaza, and the fascinating Erawan Shrine. It’s also within a 15 minute walk from the Amari Watergate Bangkok.
- Nana – This stop lies in the heart of Bangkok – and is truly an interesting one. Head to Soi 11 for some clubbing, stop by Soi 5 and the Amari Boulevard Bangkok, or see some of Bangkok’s famous nightlife at the Nana Entertainment Complex.
- Asoke – Here you find everything from the Siam Society research library to Soi Cowboy – yes it’s that diverse of a stop. Head over to Times Square’s Korean Town for some tasty BBQ. The interchange with the underground (MRT Sukhumvit) station is also here.
- Phrom Phong – Linked to a large elegant department store - the Emporium - which offers hours of shopping and recreational possibilities. There are also many Japanese restaurants and a Villa Market within a short walk.
