Want to capture your holiday moments in style? Check out our list of the top 5 best places for memorable photos on Koh Samui
- Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai) – This 15 metre tall statue of the Buddha is located on the north side of the island and makes for the perfect photo back drop. Remember to always be respectful to images and sculptures of the Buddha whilst in Thailand (never point your feet at any Buddhist image).
- Hin Ta Hin Yai – Also known as the Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks – these intriguing formations are good for a snicker or two as they have been formed by the elements to accurately resemble male and female genitalia. An interesting market fills the entrance road leading to the rocks offering a variety of arts, crafts and souvenirs.
- Waterfalls – Koh Samui is blessed with awesome tropical waterfalls during a few months of the year and they make for the ideal photo opportunity. The easiest one to get to and one of the most remarkable is the waterfall at Namuang 1. Trails to the waterfalls can be tricky, so good footwear is important.
- Butterfly Garden – Situated near the Central Samui Village in Laem Set, the Butterfly Garden is located on a scenic hillside surrounded by netting. Brightly coloured tropical butterflies can be seen along a zigzagging foot path and the panoramic views from the top are spectacular too – making this place ideal for great photos.
- Laem Sor Pagoda – Another great cultural attraction is this chedi (pagoda) situated at Laem Sor. It is one of the most important shrines on Koh Samui. The pagoda has bright yellow tiles which give off an impressive golden aura – making it ideal for the avid photographer. Remember to wear proper attire and always be respectful to the cultural traditions.
