Krabi is one of NY Times 52 Places to Go in 2014January 22, 2014 / byAnkita Sodhia / Categories : Destinations, Krabi, News, Thailand
Krabi was recently covered by the New York Times as one of their 52 Places to Go in 2014 (found here). So we thought it was the perfect opportunity to cover what we love about the destination, as well as some of our hand-picked recommendations on what to do should you decide to take the plunge and visit Krabi in 2014 (or any other year for that matter!).
What’s makes Krabi so special?
The New York Times quote is as “A Phuket-like hideaway, but still unspoiled.” – and the description couldn’t be more accurate. And whilst Phuket is still one of our favourite holiday destinations, Krabi is a hidden gem that is still maintains it’s natural beauty and has become commercial as a result of tourism. You don’t need to sacrifice though, since the island shares the same clear blue Andaman waters that make Phuket so appealing to travellers.
What are my options for flying to Krabi?
What’s more is that Krabi is now even easier to access by air both internationally and domestically. More and more airlines are recognising the increase in demand for this flourishing destination and are offering more flights. Please see below a list for airlines operating in and around Thailand and check their website for flights:
- Malaysia Airlines (Kuala Lumpur)
- Thai Airways (Bangkok)
- Thai Smile (Bangkok)
- Air Asia (Singapore)
- Bangkok Airways (Bangkok)
- Nok Air (Bangkok)
- Tiger Airways (Singapore)
What’s there to do in Krabi?
Whilst the island is renowned for its tranquillity, don’t be mistaken as there’s still plenty to do. And, having had the pleasure of operating here for some many years, we’ve had the been able to see and try it all. What’s even better is we’ve compiled all this local knowledge into a handy website – Destination Amari Krabi. It’s our destination guide containing hand-picked recommendations on what we think are the restaurants & bars, sightseeing spots, shops (although there aren’t many options here in Krabi), and fun activities we think our guests’ would enjoy.
You’ll see we’ve categorised each of our recommendations according to three types of travellers; 1). Friends, 2). Couples, 3). Families. That’s because we recognise that these groups can have different tastes, and we know if can sometimes be difficult deciding on what’s suited to you!
Have you been to any places we’ve recommended, or do you have any places you wish to recommend? Let us know in the comments – we’d love to hear about it!
