What to Expect: Samui Latin and Jazz Week

For the fourth consecutive year, the paradisiacal island of Koh Samui will play host to the Samui Latin and Jazz Week. This fantastic showcase begins in the evening on 29 September and there will be concerts running right until 6 October 2013.

So just what can you expect from this week long event? A jam-packed programme of 40 renowned International and Thai Artists performing a mix of uplifting, energetic and danceable Latin music, as well as smooth, melodic Jazz tunes. So whether you’re an aficionado or a relative newcomer to either of these genres, there’s definitely something for everyone to enjoy.

The concerts will take place at eight different venues around the island, culminating in a main stage event on 4 and 5 of October being held on the beachfront of Amari Palm Reef Koh Samui, who are sponsors of Samui Latin And Jazz Week.

Here’s a full breakdown of the programme and lineup:

Monday 30 September 2013 – Rocky’s Boutique Resort – Lamai

20:00: Trio Peter Beets performing songs from Portrait of Peterson

21:00: Judith Nijland & the Beets Brothers

Tuesday 1 October 2013 – The Drink Gallery – Chaweng

20:00 – 22:00: Saskia Laroo with ‘Jazzkia’

Wednesday 2 Obctober 2013 – The Passage Samui – Laem Yai

20:00 – 22:00: Miguel Rodriguez featuring Nadia Basurto

Thursday 3 October 2013 – Centara Grand Beach Resort – Chaweng

22:00 – 22:00: Salsa Night with Nando Vanin

Friday 4 & Saturday 5 October 2013 – Main Stage – Amari Palm Reef Koh Samui Beachfront – Chaweng

18:00 – 00:00: Kho Mr Saxman, Buntita, Cabo Cuba Jazz, Koran Daniels, Amik Guerra, Nils Fischer, Fabio Deldongo, Rolf Delfos and many more.

Sunday 6 October 2013 – After Party at Secret Garden – Bang Rak

18:00 onward: Sunday Session with Fabio Deldongo

Aside from the TWO day concert at our very own Amari Palm Reef Koh Samui, and the After Party, both of which will be completely FREE of charge, tickets to the other concerts will set you back 500 Baht each. All proceeds generated at the event are going to be donated to the Green Island Foundation who will put the funds towards sustainable community run projects on the island.
