What Does Bangkok Feel Like at First?

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Like being reborn again after hours of air travel - you enter a foreign land so different that your pulse begins to accelerate in anticipation of the events to come.

Bangkok Pulse

You exit the airport to an intense heat that nearly takes your breath away - then you realize it is only 10pm.

The frantic traffic is like organized chaos with no rules - yet things seem to function as the cabby cruises at blinding speeds.

Adrenaline is your only source of energy at first.

Somehow you manage to stay alert and yearn to check out what’s going on. You emerge onto the streets of Bangkok; sensory overload.

The sights, smells and sounds overtake you almost as much as the heat. Tuk tuks whiz by at break neck speed – while motorbikes skillfully negotiate solid traffic jams with precision.

The city is alive with people moving as in mass. Food carts line the streets with unique fare that tantalizes the senses.

The next day jet lag hits you and you feel as a mere mortal once again. But you continue on out of sheer determination. Everything seems as though it’s backwards - yet you feel welcomed and safe no matter where you go.

Welcome to Bangkok.

The Latest Thailand Flood Information

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

Our properties in Central Bangkok - Amari Watergate Bangkok, Amari Atrium Bangkok, Amari Boulevard Bangkok, Amari Residences Bangkok, and Amari Residences Sukhumvit – were not affected by the recent flooding in Thailand.

The highway and airport rail link from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to central Bangkok were also not affected by the flood - as was the main highway from Bangkok to Pattaya.

Additionally, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office has declared Bangkok safe.

We would like to extend our genuine sympathies to all of the flood victims. We will be working with charities in Thailand to help during this time of need.

Sunrise at Bangkok’s Pratunam Market

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

Central Bangkok has dodged flooding and life is getting back to normal.

Pratunam

The sun shines through pink coverings as market vendors set up for the day in Bangkok’s bustling Pratunam market just outside the Amari Watergate Bangkok.

All of our central Bangkok properties are open and the highway from Suvarnabhumi International Airport is clear.
